Some famous headstones in Old St. Paul's Cemetery
Below: John Eager Howard, 1752-1827; Governor of Maryland and United States Senator.
Above & below: The Rev'd Dr. Wyatt (1789-1861), rector of Old St. Paul's from 1827-1861 (and associate rector for the previous thirteen years) was described as "a gentleman of the old school who went to church in small clothes, silk stockings, and silver-buckled shoes, and always wore a silk gown in the streets. He wore gloves in the pulpit with one finger cut for convenience in turning the leaves of his manuscript." Dr. Wyatt founded St. Paul's School in 1849.
Below: The Rev'd Thomas Chase, rector of St. Paul's Parish from 1745-1779. Buried with him is his famous son, Samuel (1741-1811), and daughter-in-law, Hannah Kitty Chase (1759-1848) who lived an unusually long life!
Below: Two views of the grave of Lieutenant Colonel George Armistead (1780-1818), commander of the garrison at Ft. McHenry during the war of 1812; and his nephew, Brig. General Lewis A. Armistead (1817-1863), of the Confederate States Army.
